Belarus ratifies its support for Cuba in fight against the blockade

Havana, Jul 17 (Prensa Latina) Belarussian Foreign Minister Serguei Aleinik ratified his country's support for Cuba's struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States more than six decades ago.

During a meeting at the Foreign Ministry with the acting Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal, the Belarusian Minister also expressed his gratitude for the support provided by Cuba in different international platforms.

Aleinik, who had previously spoken with the president of the National People’s Power Assembly, Esteban Lazo, affirmed that Cuba occupied a special place for his country and was an example of resistance and tenacity in the defense of its values and rights.

Our relations have passed the test of time and are developing on the basis of friendship and mutual respect, he noted.

At present, not only Cuba and Belarus are under sanctions by the West, as the list is now extended and includes dozens of states all over the world, the Minister considered.

For her part, Josefina Vidal thanked on behalf of the people of her country the support provided by Belarus in the battle of this island against the U.S. genocidal blockade that causes us so much harm, she said.

Vidal conveyed to Aleinik greetings from Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who, she explained, is accompanying Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel at the summit of the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States in Brussels.
