Gonsalves mentioned several issues related to the region that he would like to discuss, including climate change, poverty, food security, reform of the global financial architecture, digital transition and enhancing multilateralism.

“I am very hopeful that we will see a paragraph in the declaration that addresses the historical legacies of the native genocide and the slavery of Africans, and something referring to restorative justice,” he noted.

He added that he has already spoken with Charles Michel, president of the Council of the European Community bloc, on this issue.
