According to state news agency KCNA, 9,296 former combatants and citizens who performed indelible feats and showed loyalty and patriotism during the war will be honored with the medal by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly.

The medal has a diameter of 39 millimeters inside which is inscribed a red star with the number 70 in the center and bordered by laurel branches, together with the inscription Victory in the war, engraved on a background where the national flag flies.

To the left and right of the decoration appear, symmetrically arranged, two white lines on a red background, alluding to the blood offered by those who sacrificed themselves for national independence.

On the reverse, in relief, it can be read Medal 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the War of Liberation of the Fatherland.
