The resolution, registered as 2023/2744(RSP) “echoes the US campaign to isolate Cuba and justify the genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for over 60 years,” according to a press release.
It was pointed out that EP once again bows to Washington’s designs, this time to condemn Cuba and stop the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement signed in 2016 to put an end to the “common position”.
The Fidel Castro Chair also condemned EP´s interfering character whose functions are circumscribed to the scope of European countries and has no reason to investigate into the “situation of Human Rights in Cuba”.
The EP should rather review its own practice of violating human rights against thousands of immigrants and the police brutality that regional nations´ authorities exercise over citizens.
They should also be concerned about their actions against the people in their war adventures in other parts of the world, actions that show their contempt for human rights and democracy, it emphasized.
Cuba has the right to defend itself against terrorists who have been financed by the United States, as in cases that have been known for decades, among which the attacks that have left a high number of dead and injured victims stand out.
The Chair reaffirmed its solidarity with the Cuban Revolution and called for respect for the right of its people and government to self-determination and condemned the tightening of the US blockade.
