Marrero informed on Twitter that such municipality is currently drawing up some strategies in order to guarantee local self-sufficiency and increase supply to tourism sector and other destinations.
He praised the planting of various crops including malanga (also known as yautía or cocoyam) and plantain FHIA-04, a variety resistant to climate change and with a high agricultural yield.
Marrero also noted the breeding of dark-coat pigs and the alliances with neighboring schools to link students with the productive base.
