According to a press release from MIDA and the Panama-United States Commission for the Eradication and Prevention of Screwworm (COPEG), these actions will be strengthened following an animal health emergency declaration nationwide.

Agricultural Development Minister Augusto Valderrama, who signed such a declaration on July 5, told reporters that the measure complies with MIDA’s responsibility guaranteeing animal and plant health due to the growth of this pest.
