Jaishankar will arrive in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Wednesday to attend the meeting of foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-India, the East Asia Summit, and the ASEAN summit, scheduled for July 13th and 14th, official sources revealed.
He will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the ASEAN member countries, reflecting India’s strong commitment to the bloc and its representativeness in the Indo-Pacific region, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
Jaishankar will leave afterwards for Bangkok, Thailand, to participate in the 12th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Mekong Ganga Cooperation Mechanism (MGC) to be held on July 16th.
He will also represent India at the Bimstec Foreign Ministers event on July 17th, an economic and technical initiative that brings together nations of the Bay of Bengal for multi-faceted cooperation.
Ways to strengthen the organization and promote its agenda will be discussed at the event, the Indian Foreign Ministry reported.
