Opposition comments on gas pipeline slammed in Argentina
Buenos Aires, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) Argentina´s Head of Ministers Cabinet Agustín Rossi on Monday slammed the opposition alliance Juntos por el Cambio (JxC)and former President Mauricio Macri´s attempts to detract from the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline construction.
In statements to El Destape Radio, Rossi assured that the opening ceremony of this new gas pipeline, so much important for Argentina´s economic progress, was possible thanks to Argentine President´s strong political decision.
Rossi also acknowledged the efforts by the Economy Minister and his running mate for coming elections, Sergio Massa, who did not give in to pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to stop the project.
The Public Works Minister Gabriel Katopodis, on the other hand, recalled that during Macri’s administration hundreds of plans and programs in favor of the people were halted.
On Sunday, President Fernández pointed out that Macri and JxC “tried to give the gas pipeline to their friends, do private business and dollarize gas rates again”.
