Chilean graduates in Cuba condemn counterrevolutionary maneuver

Santiago de Chile, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Chilean professionals who graduated in Cuba and their families condemned the intention of holding an exhibition of the counterrevolutionary Tania Bruguera at the Salvador Allende Solidarity Museum.

In a statement addressed to the director of that institution, Claudia Zaldívar, and to the Chilean public opinion, they expressed their concerns for the presence in this country of the artist known for her positions against the Cuban Revolution.

We find it regrettable to receive someone who discredits her own people, ignoring their achievements in education, science, health and culture, despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years, the document states.

They also reminded that in the 2000s, many young Chileans had the opportunity to pursue high-level studies in the Caribbean country, from which 648 doctors graduated, 46 graduated from the International School of Sports and 60 more in different areas.

For this reason, the statement specifies, we believe that exhibiting works financed by the United States, the same country that maintains the blockade, contradicts the principles of solidarity between Cuba and Chile.
