According to a poll carried out in June’s last week, approximately two thirds of the queried expressed a negative opinion on the matter. The pollster noted that about 66 % of the answers point to a bad or very bad evaluation of the government’s performance in the situation, which led to the declaration of a water emergency in Montevideo and the metropolitan area.
These numbers reflect a downward trend for the president and the government, according to Eduardo Botinelli, director of Factum.
Just 3% of the participants considered the performance as very good, while 27 % rated it as good, adding up to 30 % of positive opinions.
Meanwhile, 34 % deemed the official response to be very bad and another 29 % rated it as bad, totaling 63% of negative opinions.
Such perception is even greater in Montevideo, where the crisis is felt most acutely. 71% of those surveyed in the capital expressed a negative opinion of the president and the executive branch.
