“The Economic Commission for Latin America estimates that our economy will grow in 2023 by five units out of 100 despite the economic and financial blockade of the United States against our country”, Trómpiz assured in statements to Prensa Latina.

The ambassador explained that the blockade maintained by Washington since President Barack Obama unjustly declared the South American country as an “extraordinary threat to Washington’s national security” today includes 900 unilateral punitive measures.

“Those arbitrary measures caused losses to Venezuela valued at 627 billion dollars -the diplomat upheld-, apart from the seizure of assets in the United States and the European Union valued at 30 billion dollars”.

Referring to the effects of these actions aimed at forcing Venezuela to renounce its independence and sovereignty, Trómpiz informed the press that it has already caused 40,000 deaths, according to studies by specialized institutions in the United States.

He described that this blockade, which he described as criminal, prevented the Government, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, from acquiring essential medicines, as is the case in different sectors such as education.

Trómpiz made statements to dozens of journalists at the Venezuela Square in La Paz, venue of the wreath ceremony in front of the monument to the Liberator Simón Bolívar, on the occasion of the 212th anniversary of the signing of the Act of Independence of that nation and the founding of the Armed Forces of that country.

During the ceremony, which was attended by the Bolivian Foreign Minister, Rogelio Mayta; deputy ministers, legislators, leaders of social movements, high ranking military and police officers and a large representation of the accredited diplomatic corps, Trómpiz insisted that Venezuela is resisting despite the damage caused by the US blockade.

“We continue standing up ratifying independence and sovereignty and, at the same time, we extend our hand of solidarity to friendly peoples,” he said.
