The labor protest will be staggered among all six branches of this form of transportation, and responds to a union struggle plan set to “reduce the work week,” the newspaper Página/12 reported on Wednesday.

The strike, called by Asociación Gremial de Trabajadores del Subte y Premetro (Agtsyp), will affect some 900,000 passengers, the company Emova, which operates the service of that urban transportation, informed in a statement.

In its statement, the concessionary entity described as “inflexible position” the stance adopted by Agtsyp “and the repeated measures that already total 17 in the last few months,” although it conveyed “its willingness to dialogue.”

The public transport business entity rejected the union’s demand on risky working conditions, considering that “the conditions are adequate for the development of the activity.”

The union members, in turn, contacted national lawmakers to make their claims visible and to get support for their demands and action plan.
