The professionals will participate in a 30-day mission to help firefighters in Lebel-sur-Quevillon, an area that has experienced one of the worst fires in Quebec (east), said a statement from South Korean Embassy here, quoted by CTV News.
This is the second time in 2023 that the South Korean Disaster Relief Team has been sent on such a deployment abroad. In its first mission, the brigade participated in a relief operation in Türkiye, following the earthquake that struck the country in February, the information noted.
As Canada is fighting its worst wildfire season in recent times, professionals from more than ten countries have joined forces to fight the blaze.
More than 1,470 firefighters from Mexico, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Costa Rica, Spain, South Africa and the United States have been deployed in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta to help extinguish the fires, according to local media.
