In the El Alambre production center, in the municipality of San Luis, the president expressed interest in the sowing and harvesting of foodstuffs as well as their commercialization, Granma newspaper, the official organ of the Communist Party of Cuba, reported on its website.

“Sowing is the key to having food,” Díaz-Canel insisted in a conversation with farmer Rody Carmenaty, who tends 15 hectares of cassava, plantain, papaya and other vcrops.

This productive area is made up of 49 usufructuaries, whose harvests go mainly to the markets of the municipality at good prices and without intermediaries.

The Cuban president also visited the neighborhood in transformation “Sevilla” and among other rehabilitated works, he visited the bakery, the bodega, the pharmacy and the elementary school, the Presidency of the Republic reported on Twitter.

In conversation with people, Diaz-Canel emphasized the importance of participating in everything that is done in the neighborhood, exercising popular control, seeking options to produce food, working together to move forward and always finding alternatives to overcome adversities.

The next item on the agenda of the head of State was the “Moncada” cement factory, where an investment consisting of three major works is being carried out: a new plant, a maritime terminal and complementary infrastructure works.

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero is also in that eastern province, where he learned about the actions carried out to fight corruption, crimes and illegalities, which must become more effective, he said.

In the meeting, held at the Heredia Theater, it was pointed out that in the control of abusive and speculative prices, the desired impact is not achieved, despite the application of fines and other actions.
