Defense of peace in Colombia at Logroño Summit

Madrid, Jun 30 (Prensa Latina) Jorge Eduardo Londoño, former Colombian justice minister and current director of the National Training Service (SENA), highlighted the importance of education to defend peace in his country.

At the 6th World Governance and Democracy Summit in Logroño, the capital of La Rioja, Spain, Londoño, who heads the Colombian SENA, stated that achieving total peace and developing education in depth are prerequisites to end a conflict that has left more than 296,000 victims.

Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo discussed political and democratic instability in Latin America.

From Paris, Daniel Mejía Lozano, president of the meeting, stated that political tyranny and corruption are the cancer of freedom of the press and called for dialogue among nations to build democracy.

Axier Amo Izarra, former director general of Transparency of the Government of La Rioja, met with Cristina del Valle, singer of the Amistades Peligrosas band, on the defense of human rights.

José Antonio Pallín of Judges for Democracy, Javier García Isac, general director of the EDATV Communication Group, David Martínez García of Transparency International, and Marcelino Muñoz, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, also met at the 6th Summit to discuss issues such as education, climate change, and concrete actions for world peace.
