According to the Ecuadorian Geophysical Institute, the epicenter was located at 5.2 kilometers from Canton Muisne in that locality and had a depth of 11 kilometers.

Social media users reported that the tremor was felt in Quito, Santo Domingo, and Riobamba.

So far, authorities have not reported any material or human damage caused by the earthquake.
