“Undoubtedly, Cuba has been and remains Russia’s major ally in the region. Cuban friends confirmed their attitude to our country, even demonstrated their full understanding of the reasons for launching the military operation in Ukraine,” the head of the Russian military department noted.
He noted that Russia plans to develop with Cuba a number of joint projects in the military-technical field, and proposed further rapprochement.
“The composition of your large delegation testifies to Cuba’s readiness to discuss a wide range of issues in the military and military-technical sphere. I propose to discuss in detail all the existing and promising cooperation projects in the military field,” he added.
Shoigu pointed out in talks with Lopez Miera that Russia is ready to help Cuba, which has been subjected to the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States for more than 60 years.
He stressed that Russia-Cuba relations are currently on the rise. Several high-level Russian delegations have paid official visit to Cuba this year, and recently, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero paid an official visit to Russia.
