Likewise, as part of the anti-gang operation, ten criminals implicated in the disappearances and murders of soccer player Jimena Ramírez and the Guerrero Toledo brothers, which occurred in 2021, were located and arrested, a spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) noted.

According to the National Civil Police (PNC), in the early hours of Friday morning a strong raid resulted in the capture of 465 gang members in the department.

The military agency added that the operation was aimed at eliminating various cliques (cells) operating in this sector and arresting clique runners, homeboys and other gang members with different ranks in the criminal structures.

The actions allowed striking the sources of income of the gangs, especially those dedicated to extortion, the disappearance of people and illicit drug trafficking that were based in the Central Market of Santa Tecla, authorities said.
