Israeli politicians denounce occupation of Palestine and repression

Tel Aviv, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) Israeli politicians denounced the occupation of the West Bank and criticized the wave of attacks by the armed forces and settlers against the Palestinian civilian population.

“Either we exterminate the occupation or the occupation will exterminate us. There is no middle ground, the time has come to choose whether you are on the side of those who carry out pogroms or on the side of peace and equality,” left-wing MP Ofer Cassid wrote on Twitter.

Aida Touma Slima, also a legislator, spoke in a similar sense, questioning the continuous attacks on the Palestinian people.

The parliamentarian accused the Army of allowing “violent settlers and terrorists” to set fire to homes and cars in various towns on the West Bank, while the government promotes the construction of houses in the illegal settlements and allows these people to steal land and establish outposts in Palestinian areas.

Former lawmaker Mossi Raz criticized successive Israeli governments for acting for decades against the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). “They punish without logic, they affirm that there are no partners to talk to, they reject the peace proposals of the Arab League and the PNA, and now they pretend to be surprised and express fear for the collapse of the Palestinian executive,” he pointed out.

Raz thus alluded to the numerous statements by Israeli officials about the alleged collapse of the PNA, which allowed the rise of Palestinian militias, especially in the northern West Bank, with its epicenter in the cities of Nablus and Jenin.

Two days ago, former parliamentarian Sami Abou Shahadeh said on Twitter that the attacks by settlers with the support of the Armed Forces “represent the true face of Israeli society.” “This is not an exceptional case or a fringe group of extremists, this is a scene repeated in a different way every day,” he said.
