GOPers bash Lauren Boebert for forcing Joe Biden impeachment vote

Washington, Jun 21 (Prensa Latina) Attacks on President Joe Biden are intensifying in the House after an accusation pointing US president for abuse of power and neglect of duty.

GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado introduced articles of impeachment against Mr. Biden on Tuesday as a privileged resolution, fast-tracking its consideration under House rules by circumventing the normal committee process. The articles focus on the president’s handling of the U.S.-Mexico border and immigration.

According to The Washington Post, it is unclear whether the motion will succeed within Republicans, as several of them believe it is a distraction from other issues they see as top priorities such as appropriations bills before an upcoming two-week recess.

Boebert claims that the president violated his oath by “knowingly” failing to enforce federal immigration laws, among other allegations.

“Joe Biden has pursued this open border agenda deliberately and willfully, circumventing all safeguards, checks and balances required by law, resulting in massive illegal immigration into the United States to the detriment of the American people.”

White House Counsel’s Office spokesman Ian Sams strongly condemned Boebert’s actions as an effort to distract attention from GOP ineffectiveness in the House.

“Instead of working together with President Joe Biden on solutions to issues the Americans really matter the most, like creating jobs, reducing costs and strengthening health care, extremist House Republicans are staging baseless political stunts that sit back and do nothing to help people and only serve as attention-grabbers,” Sams said in a statement.

According to the analysis, Democrats will seek to block efforts to impeach President Biden.

In May, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also filed articles of impeachment against Biden for his immigrant crossing decision into the country.

At that time, Greene also alleged that Biden deliberately compromised national security, but, unlike current process, her resolution was not privileged as Boeber’s is.

Even if the House was to pass articles of impeachment to convict and remove a president, a two-thirds majority vote in the Senate is required for it to take effect.
