UNESCO highlights beauty of Havana staircase in Cuba

Havana, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) The Regional Office of Culture for Latin America and the Caribbean, in Havana, on Monday highlighted the beauty of the staircase located in the current House of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.

This office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) not only invited to visit the site next July 1, from 10:00 to 17:00 local time, but also shared photos in which you can see all the architectural values of the building located on 19th Street between Paseo and 2nd Street, Vedado, Havana.

On a tweet, the Regional Office of UNESCO in Havana shared a review describing that in 1934, Cuban architect Rafael de Cardenas designed this residence for Hilda Sarra, daughter of the wealthy owner of the drugstore known by that surname. The building entered fully into modernity by the codes and postulates of rationalism.

For several decades the house had been the headquarters of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Havana, but in the year 2000, it became a cultural center dedicated to the organization of the Latin American Film Festivals of CUBACINEMA ICAIC.
