A message on social networks from the Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, indicated that the group of five men was seized during the police operation on the Tepecoyo highway, La Libertad, with three firearms, four cell phones, the vehicle in which they were transported, and five thousand dollars in cash.
Villatoro published photographs of the detainees and the intervention of the vehicle, accusing the individuals of being “remnants of an armed group in Tepecoyo”, linked to the Mara Salvatrucha MS 13.
The captured subjects profile as active members of the MS13 gang, they will be prosecuted in accordance with the law and sent to prison, the minister said in his tweet.
He added that police intelligence information indicated that the subjects intended to migrate to Guatemala to hide and linked them to a bloody event that occurred on October 20, 2022, in the municipality of Tepecoyo.
