The Syrian Army implements policies based on reconciliation to recover normality and restore state institutions, without resorting to military operations which could lead to human and material losses.
According to figures announced by Damascus, around 60,000 armed men and deserters were pardoned in 2022, after the provinces of Deir Ezzor, Raqa, Aleppo and Deraa, Damascus-Camp, Homs and Hama joined the reconciliation process.
The initiative, proposed by the government, includes granting amnesty to those who lay down their arms and to deserters who surrender to the judicial and military authorities and then rejoin the ranks of the army.
