The emportant gathering closed up with key discussions, debates, signing of agreements and visits to the samples of companies of the EEU nations, as well as with a final ceremony.
Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero spoke on Thursday in the plenary session of the Intergovernmental Council. The official stressed that Cuba established a serious and responsible political commitment to the development of economic, commercial, financial and cooperation ties with the EEU, and stated Cuba’s proposal to create a multinational alliance in the biopharmaceutical sector to achieve sovereignty in the production of vaccines and drugs with a view to improving the health and well-being of the peoples of the EEU.
“Our countries have a lot to share, and Cuba offers a gateway to the Latin American and Caribbean region, our potential as a gateway to the region, provide alternatives to complement new integration spaces,” the head of the Cuban Government said.
He also declared that Cuba’s purpose is to promote an industrial park of the EEU in the Mariel Special Development Zone in order to achieve productive chains “that lead to the interregional integration to which we aspire in the context of a unipolar world.”
Marrero also presided over the signing of three important agreements between the Biocubafarma business group and Russian and Belarusian companies in the sector, which will comply with Cuba’s proposal to establish alliances in scientific and drug production.
He also held meetings with several of his counterparts, such as Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, to whom he expressed his interest in raising economic and trade relations to the same level as political ones.
