The Commission for International Relations of the legislative body condemned with firmness the repetition of this accusation which, along with the unfair inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, contributes to reinforce even more the criminal economic, financial and commercial blockade that increases the difficulties of the Cuban people.
The permanence, for political reasons, of Cuba on that list – contrary to its exemplary behavior in this matter – questions the alleged commitment of the White House in the fight against terrorism, the statement, published on the Cuban parliament’s Twitter portal, says.
The document says that a significant increase of the number of banks in third countries that, for fear of retaliatory measures by the U.S. government, have suspended their operations with Cuba, including transfers to buy food, medicines, fuel, replacement parts for the national energy system and other goods for the population, as a result of the punitive actions from this arbitrary and unjustified measure.
The text illustrates that only in health sector, it has not been possible to reach the production levels of the country’s basic list of medicines, because of the impossibility of making payments to obtain the necessary raw materials and supplies.
