China rejects U.S.-Taiwan trade deal, calls for the end to contacts

Beijing, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) China's Commerce and Foreign Ministries on Friday expressed opposition to the USA-Taiwan sign trade deal, called for the end of all contacts, and also laid stress on sovereignty over the island.

Both ministries indicated, separately, that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and after signing such a trade deal Washington is obviously violating all commitments agreed and foundations of its relations with Beijing.

“We urge the United States to adhere to the ¨One China¨ principle and the three joint statements, to handle economic and commercial relations sensibly, as well as to cease any official trade deal with Taiwan”, China´s Commerce Ministry reported.

The Foreign Ministry, on the other hand, pronounced itself in similar terms, calling on the White House to revoke the trade deal signed with Taiwan, and also condemned this is another action encouraged by a separatist agenda, because Taiwan authorities “are handing it to them on a platter”.
