Mao Ning, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, said such a trade deal with Taiwan would constitute a serious violation of both the country’s sovereignty over the island and the fundamentals of Beijing-Washington ties.
She also considered that in the name of business and economics, the U.S. side is sending wrong signals to promoters of separatism and Taiwan independence.
However, she forecast a failure of any attempt by Taiwan to seek a U.S. support, whether through interactions or commercial cooperation.
Mao, on the other hand, strongly rejected the US and EU accusations against China’s trade policies. She reaffirmed the adherence to the high standard opening of the domestic market and compliance with international rules and norms.
Mao assured that all trade transactions, investments and cooperation projects between China and other nations are being done under the mutual respect and shared benefit principles.
China defends international justice, favors the resolution of disagreements through talks and consultations, and offers new openings.
The Chinese official warned that the only threat to the world is a confrontation or the new cold war promoted by some nations, efforts to interfere in the internal affairs of others´ and to politicize trade, technology and production.
