Directed by renowned actor and filmmaker Jorge Perugorría, the festival will promote audiovisual works provided by the GoodPlanet Foundation, Cinema Planeta, and the Green Film Network international association, which brings together more than 30 environmental festivals worldwide.
According to organizers, a dozen films that have won awards in such events will be screened, including materials produced in Cuba with the collaboration of the Antonio Nuñez Jimenez Foundation and the Environmental Defense Fund.
The non-competitive program of the festival includes the premieres of “Home” (2009) and “Legacy, Notre Héritage” (2021) by French filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand at the Caribe movie theater.
The Isla Verde Awards will be bestowed to prominent figures whose career or work is related to environmental protection and preservation.
This time, Cuban free-diving world record holder Deborah Andollo, French filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and Eleonora Isunza, director of Cinema Planeta and Mexico’s International Film and Environment Festival, will receive the awards.
