The ceremony will be held in the capital’s Central Bank at 10:30 (local time) under heavy security measures, and two legislators will be absent, Yolanda Paredes and Rafael Esquivel, of the Cruzada Nacional party, which led the mobilizations against alleged fraud in the referendum, ABC Color reports.
Both absent legislators, who led the demonstrations together with the leader of that party and husband of Paredes, Paraguayo Cubas, announced their decision in protest against the actions of the TSJE, which rejected an international audit and a recount of votes demanded by the plaintiffs.
Senator Esquivel, in addition, is imprisoned and prosecuted on charges of alleged sexual abuse and robbery, and prevented from attending the event by order of the local justice system, which is also prosecuting Cubas, arrested for alleged excesses in the protests, violently repressed by the Police.
The Electoral Justice will deliver in separate ceremonies this Wednesday their respective certificates to the 80 regular and 80 alternate deputies, and to the governors voted in the April 30 elections.
On the other hand, the leaders of the Departmental Boards of the country will be proclaimed and will receive their titles between June 1 and 9, in acts summoned by the Electoral Courts of each circumscription.
