The festival, ongoing until May 31st, will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Cuba.
“La guerra olvidada” (The Forgotten War),”El tigre saltó y mató…pero morirá…morirá” (The Tiger Jumped and Killed… But It Will Die… It Will Die), “Now,” and “El nuevo tango” (The New Tango), among other documentaries shot by Alvarez, will be screened as part of the tribute.
“El nuevo tango” was made with materials shot in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Mendoza during his visit to that country in 1973 as part of the team of the weekly newsreels, Noticiero ICAIC Latinoamericano, produced by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).
Those documentary films will be screened at the Kirchner Cultural Center in Buenos Aires on Sunday, May 28, marking 50 years since the two States re-established diplomatic relations.
