Ogan, who was the third most voted candidate on may 14 with 5.17 percent of the votes cast, considered it necessary for his supporters to back Erdogan’s re-election.

He noted that he will support Erdogan, from the Republican People’s Alliance in the second round of elections on May 28, so he urged his followers to vote for him, in a speech broadcast on several local television channels.

Both Erdogan and opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu fell below 50 percent of the votes in the first round.

Erdogan came close, but only won 49.42 percent of the ballots, while Kilicdaroglu, who ran as a single candidate from six political parties, won 44.88 percent of the votes.
