DPRK condemns provocative nature of US-South Korea maneuvers

Pyongyang, May 19 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday warned that the recent military drills carried out by colossal naval and air forces of the United States and South Korea ramped up new dangers of a possible war over the Korean peninsula.

The DPRK condemned in a press release that the US-South Korean maneuvers over the East Sea, of unprecedented scale and duration, are a clear sign of the warmongering intentions by Washington and Seoul against DPRK.

Military pressures against DPRK are increasingly becoming open and dangerous under the pretext of “improvement of defense capability” and the alleged argument of “expanded deterrence” by the U.S. and South Korea.

To make matters worse, from May 25 to June 15, a few kilometers away, U.S. and South Korean troops will be conducting several large-scale “combined joint-fire extermination exercises” under the recurring war scenario of “punishing” DPRK with sophisticated weapons.

We are keeping a close watch on all military moves of the hostile forces destroying and threatening the security environment on the Korean peninsula and in the region (…) The frenzied nuclear war rampages by U.S. and South Korean warmongers will be met with a timely response.
