Ensuring rice supplies for the Cuban population is the main objective of this collaboration, since large amounts of that product are still imported at present, he remarked.

Regarding coffee, he explained that there is already a cooperation program that allowed the introduction in Cuba of the Vietnamese Robusta variety, whose results are encouraging. We used to produce some 250 kilograms per hectare and now yield has increased to two tons in the same area, he emphasized.
