“It has been one of the cruelest actions we have had to tackle, in the midst of a world crisis whose incidence extends to all areas and worldwide nations,” Cuban Public Health Minister Jose Angel Portal said at a meeting of Ministers of Healthcare of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Washington’s policy makes it increasingly difficult to acquire medicines and supplies for medical assistance for the Cuban people, Portal added on his online speech at the meeting.
The minister highlighted the efforts being made by the sector’s workers in the search for alternatives to support healthcare and services.
“These are complex times, when support among countries grasps greater significance; thus, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, I am grateful for the firm and historic denunciation made by the Non-Aligned Movement of the US inhumane blockade imposed by successive US administrations,” he stated.
“However, nothing will make us give up to such a noble principle as that of solidarity, as part of which over 600,000 healthcare collaborators rendered their services in 164 nations around the world, the minister concluded.
