Diaz-Canel, who is also the first secretary of Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), has been checking up the commitments agreed upon earlier this year to achieve a more thriving economic context for 2023.
Holguin is the thirteenth province to be visited by Diaz-Canel. It is one of the most populated territories in Cuba and is deemed a pivotal economic pole due to its strategic sectors, including the nickel industry and tourism.
At these meetings, Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of Organization of the PCC Central Committee, told reporters that the analysis has gone beyond checking up what was planned, since they have insisted on what remains to be done and “how to respond to the needs and expectations to make 2023 a better year.”
