According to Government Minister Henry Cucalón, after activating the cross-death mechanism that dissolved the legislature, Lasso could only rule by decree on economic issues that would be only reviewed by the Constitutional Court (CC).
Cucalón explained that the decree, that puts into effect the budget law presented to the legislature last week and has not yet been discussed, was already issued.
The minister also announced that Lasso is preparing new reforms on incentives and employment that will be presented in the coming days or weeks.
All sights in Ecuador are currently focused on the CC, awaiting its pronouncement on the cross-death decree.
Several social organizations and political parties have described this measure as illegal, as it is not justified by any of the reasons provided by the law.
