After laying a wreath at the monument to Vietnamese independence hero Ho Chi Minh and meeting with leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the People’s Committee, and the Fatherland Front in Vinh City, Hernández will travel to Dong Hoi City, in Quang Binh province.
The national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) will thus arrive in the same place where, almost 50 years ago, amid the war, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro visited the liberated zone of South Vietnam to fraternize with the fighters of the National Liberation Front.
In Dong Hoi, the Cuban delegation will lay a wreath on the statue commemorating the passage of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution and visit the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital, a gift from Fidel Castro himself after he visited the devastated community.
The tour will continue in Dong Ha City, in Quang Tri province, where the Fidel Castro Park was inaugurated in September 2018. Hernández and his companions will lay a wreath before that statue.
The Cuban delegation will remain there until Sunday, May 21, when it will move to Lao Bao International Border Gate to begin a visit to Laos.
During his stay in Hanoi, where he arrived on Tuesday, Hernández fraternally met with Do Van Chien, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, with whom he signed a cooperation agreement between that Front and the CDRs for the period 2023-2028.
