Szijjártó’s announcement from Sweden comes after the inclusion of OTP, the main national bank, in the list of possible sanctions provided by Ukraine, under the argument of alleged support to Moscow’s special military operation in Kiev.
In this capital, where a meeting of foreign ministers of the regional bloc will be held, Szijjártó described as scandalous the appearance of the bank on this list, since the entity “has not violated any law”.
The European Commission published the proposal for the eleventh package of measures against the Kremlin, with new trade restrictions, which will also affect Hungarian companies and the tightening of sanctions for the previously mentioned organizations.
According to Russia, the operation in Ukraine is aimed at defending the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, previously recognized as sovereign states, from the genocide committed by Kiev, in addition to the demilitarization and denazification of the neighboring territory.
