Cyclones, which would be named once they reach the tropical storm phase, will occur throughout the North Atlantic basin, which includes the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
According to the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology, out of 11 tropical cyclonic systems forecast, seven of which develop in the Atlantic Ocean region, two in the Caribbean Sea, and the same number in the Gulf of Mexico.
INSMET Director Dr. Teresita Llanes told Granma newspaper that at least one hurricane originated and intensified in the Caribbean and one of Atlantic origin entering the Caribbean is moderate.
