The cargo –valued at $444,000- is full of supplies for injury treatment, emergency surgeries and essential drugs and arrived in Port Sudan Airport early this morning.

Since April 15, more than 500 people have died as a result of clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces, led by General Abdelafatah Al Burhan, and the Rapid Response Forces (RSF) commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Degalo.

WHO claimed the humanitarian shipment replenishes the depleted stocks of its usual supplies in Sudan, which were interrupted due to local clashes where about 5,000 were wounded.

At least 160,000 Sudanese are expected to benefit from the supplies arriving at a time when a meeting between representatives of the opposing forces is expected to be held in the city of Jeddah.

Because of clashes, at least 12,000 people have been displaced to neighboring Ethiopia, according to UN sources.

Amid a chaos in the city, citizens are complaining about the closure of banks and rising prices.
