The Iranian president is accompanied by a high-level delegation, composed by the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Roads and Urban Construction, Oil and Telecommunications, who will sign a series of cooperation agreements in various fields.

President Raisi described Iran’s relations with Syria as strategic and deep, and reiterated his willingness to cooperate in the country’s reconstruction process.

This is the first visit by an Iranian leader to Syria since 2010.

Iran is an ally of Syria and has offered its military and economic support since the start of the war in 2011.
