More than a thousand guests in activities for May 1st in Cuba

Havana, May 1 (Prensa Latina) More than a thousand guests from different parts of the world are participating in the activities taking place in Cuba for the International Workers' Day.

Solidarity, the struggle against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade and the demand to eliminate Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism are the motivations that unite representatives of foreign trade unions and movements in support of Cuba.

On April 26 and 27, some of them participated in the 13th International Scientific Workshop May Day, which had among its themes the contemporary debate on historiography, theory and method for the study of labor and workers; and social movements in America, experiences and challenges.

Also migration, labor force and labor policies; the history of the workers’ movement; and the historical and cultural heritage of workers and peasants, among others.

The day before, the delegates shared with 14 labor collectives and people from the capital’s neighborhoods, where they learned about the work of these workers and the transformation efforts in Havana’s communities.

This May 1st, the guests will participate in the activities that will take place throughout the country. In this regard, Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, said in statements to television that the celebration of May 1st “will be a day of celebration and joy”.

He highlighted the presence in Cuba of foreign guests and the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba and Anti-imperialism 200 years after the Monroe Doctrine, to be held on May 2 at the Havana Convention Palace.
