In a cordial meeting with Cuban Ambassador Alejandro Simancas at the government headquarters in Kathmandu this week, the Nepalese prime minister also reiterated his rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against the Caribbean nation.

Kamal Daha also described the relations between the two countries as historic and reaffirmed the willingness to expand bilateral relations into new areas of cooperation.

He also expressed gratitude for Cuba’s cooperation with a medical brigade following the earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015.

Later, the Cuban ambassador, who is fulfilling a work agenda in this country, met with Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud and conveyed congratulations from his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez on his recent appointment to the post, the sources said.

Simancas also met with Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati and invited Nepal to attend the 1st International Heritage Congress in Havana in early May.
