Nicaragua expresses willingness to enhance ties with India

Managua, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada expressed the Sandinista government's willingness to continue strengthening ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation with India.

According to a press release, the bilateral ties between Managua and New Delhi are being strengthened in multilateral forums on the basis of mutual respect for the sovereignty and independence of States.

The information was revealed as part of the meeting of the mechanism for political dialogue and cooperation between the member countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA) and India in Panama.

The meeting was attended by the ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SICA member countries, the General Secretariat of the regional body and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

According to the information disclosed, the meeting had the objective of advancing the strengthening of relations of friendship and brotherhood between SICA and India; as well as the establishment of priority areas of cooperation.

The parties agreed to develop cooperation in the fields of food and nutrition security, connectivity, agriculture, renewable energy, information technology, health, pharmaceutical industry, trade, and investment.

They also agreed on the importance of digital transformation in key sectors such as education, health, security and the provision of services through electronic means, as well as the commitment to explore joint actions for the development of collaboration in this field.

The note specifies that the Indian foreign minister reiterated his country’s willingness to strengthen South-South cooperation and to work with the SICA nations in the development of programs according to their priorities.
