The National Defense Forces in Dangolat, in the country’s northern region, received the weapons and, according to reports from Fana Broadcasting Corporate, the TPLF had previously handed over heavy and airborne weapons as stipulated in the agreement that ended the conflict between the Government and the Front in November 2022.
Brigadier General Derbie Mekuria, a deputy commissioner of the National Rehabilitation Commission, who discussed the disarmament process with Tigray’s interim leaders, said the process would be completed on April 24.
The Ethiopian Government and the Front, after ten days of talks mediated by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, special envoy of the African Union, announced the end of hostilities of an armed confrontation since late 2020, after talks in Pretoria, South Africa, on November 2.
