In a press release by SUNA in the last few hours, the army stated that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had withdrawn from the Meroue airport after heavy fighting.
The statement added that the situation in the city stabilized and denounced an alleged involvement of regional actors in what it described as a conspiracy against Sudan.
The fighting, which has already left more than 250 people dead, erupted on Saturday amid rising tensions between the national army and paramilitary forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who is also Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council.
