According to the case file of the former general secretary of FP, Joaquín Ramírez, investigated as the alleged leader of money laundering organization, it states that four Ramírez companies made 96 money transfers to Pier Figari.
Since last week, dozens of prosecutors, with police support, have seized property belonging to Ramírez or those associated with him in various regions and yesterday they added his house in the northern Andean city of Cajamarca to the list, of which that person has been mayor since the beginning of this year.
The deposits in Figari’s account were made when he was the main adviser to the head of the party, Keiko Fujimori, in the 2016 electoral campaign.
The information released to the press indicates that the Intelligence Unit (UIF) detected unusual increases in funds from Figari between 2014 and 2017, for a total of $181,500 dollars.
The sum was transferred by the companies Lima Ingeniería y Construcción, Capricornio Import, Integral Technologies and Ofisoft.com, of Ramírez, and Figari alleged that the deposits are payments for consultancies offered to companies by telephone and by email.
The Prosecutor’s Office, indicated the newspaper La República, considered the explanation implausible and determined that they were actually covert contributions to the presidential electoral campaign of Keiko Fujimori, who is being investigated together with Figari as the political arm of the organization.
Figari is also considered one of the main accomplices of the extreme right-wing leader, in an investigation for money laundering, criminal organization and obstruction of justice, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, for receiving hidden funds for two FP electoral campaigns.
That investigation concluded and the Public Ministry requested 30 years and 20 months for Fujimori and Figari in the accusation, which is in the process of verification by a judge, a step prior to the trial.
In both cases, Fujimori and her party deny the accusations and say they are subject to political persecution by prosecutors and questioned the support of two ministers for the recent operations against Ramírez.
