Security of diplomatic premises and staff is a primary responsibility of Sudanese authorities and an obligation under international law, Borrell wrote on his official Twitter account.
In his tweet, the senior official did not provide additional details about the incident, nor did he report whether Irish diplomat O’Hara was injured.
Borrell did not specify who was behind the attack on O’Hara’s home in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.
Irish Foreign Minister Micheál Martin said O’Hara was a victim of a serious breach of diplomatic protection obligations and called for an urgent cessation of violence in Sudan and for dialogue to be established.
Al-Arabiya reported this Tuesday that an armored vehicle from the US Embassy in Sudan was also attacked.
