La Paz, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Justice, Ivan Lima, assured that the visit to Bolivia by representatives of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) is a result of the efforts done by the government of President Luis Arce.

According to Lima, the Executive headed by Arce is the one that has submitted the most reports to the universal human rights system.

Regarding the IACHR mission, which is integrated by five of its seven commissioners, plus other officials, up to a total of 25, the Minister stressed that the objective is to know without intermediaries, and with an unlimited agenda, the situation on this issue.

He described that starting on Monday and until March 31st they will meet with authorities of the four State bodies and representatives of civil society to verify compliance with human rights.

The justice officer added that it is a coordinated program, although the visitors could also build their own agenda around the meetings they will hold with civil society and victims of the strike, late in 2022 in Santa Cruz, the victims of the massacres of Sacaba (Cochabamba) and Senkata (El Alto, department of La Paz), as well as other groups in vulnerable situations.

The Vice Minister of Justice and Fundamental Rights, Cesar Siles, reminded that the visit of the IACHR takes place after 17 years, and is now aimed at taking an X-Ray of the situation in this matter.

Siles stated that the IACHR appreciated the openness of the Bolivian State and thanked it for its consent to receive the visitors, led by its president and commissioner, Margarette May Macaulay. The recommendations they issue will be mandatory, he said.
