Every last Sunday of each month, in Miami, members of the caravan are calling for normal relations between the two countries, while singing the Cuban National Anthem and also exhibiting banners and demanding the lifting up of the blockade.

Several videos uploaded to social networks show the harassment and insults from anti-Cuban groups that seek to prevent a policy of cordial relations.

“The Miami commission asked the city to provide a paid escort, a procedure that should not occur because the police must guarantee security free of cost,” the leader of the Bridges of Love movement, Carlos Lazo, denounced on Facebook. He added that they were evasive and finally offered protection to a counter-caravan whose objective was directed to intimidate the pro-Cuba activists.

In addition to the insults, the hostile demonstrations included the burning of a Cuban flag in the face of the inactive law enforcement officers, who even dimnished the threat that such an act represents for public security.

Despite the attacks, the participants in the caravan endorsed their willingness to continue supporting Cuba´s just cause.

The main political leaders of the Alianza Martiana coalition, Elena Freire and Max Lesnik, considered that it was a successful day despite everything, as it was possible to convene and bring together Cubans of goodwill who seek to raise awareness to reverse the punitive regulations issued against Cuba from the White House.
